Can good exist without evil?

A friend has commented on my first post...

"...perhaps you should be asking, can good exist without evil?"

Can good exist without evil?...an interesting question. Is the existence of 'good' dependent on the existence of 'evil'? Is there a clear mark to separate good from evil? Or...do they have to exist together?

A question that may be similar to that: Can light exist without darkness?

The implication...there seems to be no meaning of goodness if wickedness is not known. In order to understand goodness, one needs to understand wickedness, first of all. Perhaps that shows how saturated human beings have been with what is evil around the world. Goodness is interpreted from the perspective of 'evil'?

As long as this present world exists, good and evil always exist together. And perhaps many times also we have experienced the combination of the two...good evil...an evil that is good?

I don't have all the answers right now. But this is a journey to discovery...

Floods Everywhere...

I was told two days ago that many parts of my hometown were flooded. Well, I knew about how easily my kampung gets flooded when the big river (Kanarom) overflowed. But it seems to me that the floods get worse every year. Many people got "trapped".

I used to remember when I was a boy. Flood times were the most exciting moments. But that happened once in a while. I mean, not every year. But now, it happens every year! I guess it never missed. Has there been a drastic change in the climate? I believe there has been some changes in the past decade. Floods become more often. And I wonder what would become of my little hometown in the near future...It gets advanced in terms of facilities, I suppose. But packaged to that is the risk of natures being violated.

And what about the floods around Malaysia? Almost every state in Malaysia has been hit by floods...small scale or big scale, it doesn't matter. News tells us that some were hit badly, which involved the lost of lives and properties. And again, what about the floods around the world? China...Sri Lanka...even some parts of America gets flooded. Floods everywhere in this globe.

What concern me with this trend is that the future is not secure anymore. What I mean by that? Well, we don't know how much longer we may live without natural disaster? Disasters can hit anytime...and that can happen without warning.

Many people talk about global warming. Scientists warned governments about it. Here in Malaysia, the subject may not yet contribute an alarmed concern to the public...at least not in full scale. Some discussed about it. Some are very concerned about it. Some don't bother at all. But this one thing I noticed...every one is complaining, one time or another, that it's hot! The temperature of the country has increased within only two decades. If this trend continues, what would become of Malaysia?

How long...? Something has to be done. But how? Humans effort and power are very limited. Don't we need some "thing" that is of superhuman origin to help us?

My first attempt...

I never blogged! that's the fact. And I don't even know where to start and what to write. This is my first attempt at blogging. Perhaps, just for fun? Or, maybe just want to to pour every ideas, every insights, everything that pass by my mind? Or, maybe something worthwhile for anyone who comes across this blog to read?

"HOW LONG...?" That's my title. Could it be that that question will be answered sooner that I've expected? Looking at the world around us, things that happened, there seems to be reasons for asking this question. How long will all the evil things that we hear and witness everyday end?

I have no idea at the moment on what to write. But this blog is a journey of discovery, and growth. Perhaps, this will be an exciting journey for me...If you are one of those who accidentally come across this blog, I welcome you to just leave a comment or comments on any subjects on this blog.
